Personality:
While Louis has seen much destruction in his 235 years of life, he still remains almost laughably and irritatingly innocent and naive. Since he was the middle brother of all the children in his family, he was always the one to be the slacker, the lazy one who didn't like to work and was always able to offer up a quick joke or jibe into sarcasm. Lou never seemed to lose this easy-go-lucky attitude of his and still likes to flirt easily and energetically go about his business as if he was actually still 16 and not 235. In fact, looking at him now, you would never be able to tell the difference between him and a normal teenager today except for the occasional insights into wisdom and the fact that he never really caught on to the passing centuries.
In a way, Louis still can't wrap his head around any of the fashions now a days. Therefore, it won't be surprising to see him go by in a completely mismatching outfit or with something from a past century that no one really remembers except for him. Despite his obliviousness and curiosity that always appears to get him into trouble, he can still offer up advice like any old soul. While he isn't quite good at being a 'mentor' and is probably more like the one to be 'mentored', he still has some wise words hidden deep inside of him that come out at random times.
Louis has quite the temper on him, he can be quite emotional sometimes and since he was very, very lazy for a very long time, he still has trouble controlling his shifting along with his emotions. While it has kind of gotten better with time, he still never really put the practice into being able to completely control everything about his new form. Therefore, an upsetting situation that could remind him of the past or just send him over the edge is just as viable to make him change as the full moon requirements.
Curiosity and nosiness has always been a bad part about this teenager. He can't appear to stop asking questions once he gets interested (it's not like he never shuts up anyway), and will pester you until he gets the exact answer he is looking for. He also has a knack for spying and will listen secretly to any conversation he can find until what he is looking for appears. In fact, this was one of the things that got him into tagging along with his big bro in the revolt. He heard him talking about it, and pestered him enough until his brother would let him come. It's all a matter of perspective and luckily for him, Lou likes to look on the bright side for everything.
History:
Louis Mercier, or "Lou" as he prefers to be called today, was born to a peasant family of five located in a small village on the Atlantic Vendée. They had spent long lines of blood in that same village for thousands of years, and so, it was a given that all five children were to grow up here and live until their death here. They were to never leave as tradition had it, and so it was brought down with an iron fist. Besides, even if they wanted to, they were peasants anyway and didn't even have the sums to accumulate a passage away from France much less this tiny seaside village.
This all changed when the French Revolution ravaged the country. When the townspeople revolted against the revolutionaries in distant Paris, they payed the ultimate price for it. French soldiers appeared to descend upon them and began to massacre everyone, women and children included, inducing mass destruction and chaos. It was in this exact chaos that Louis both lost everything he had and gained something else as well.
Louis had been apart of a mob when the soldiers came, having followed one of his older brothers as that kid who liked to tag along to "grown up stuff". And, honestly, it did bore the teenager who would normally be working. Yet, he liked to get off work and not be yelled at for it, so he tagged along for his own personal benefit. Little did he know that day would be the one to change his life.
When the soldiers descended, he didn't know what to do, so he did the first thing that came to his mind, he ran. He turned tail and ran to their home to try and warn his family. However in the confusion of everyone already being captured or killed, he was grabbed from behind and pulled into a home. Louis struggled but was simply answered by a sharp bite to his side. It surprised him to say the least, thinking he had been captured by French soldiers, and so he went still. Whatever had bit him didn't stop and soon started eating him, a sensation that about killed the young boy. Luckily the creature was distracted and Louis was left alone, just able to close his eyes and pretend to be dead when the soldiers came to patrol and check that anyone who was alive could either be put down or captured.
He managed to trick them, but that changed when they set fire to the village, letting the flames devour anything left. Panicked, Louis crawled painfully to the exit and managed to hide out until he was sure everyone was gone. It had been pure luck that he had survived all of it, knowing that pretty much everyone was gone now. Still, he couldn't help but travel to his own home, hoping just for the slightest moment that he would find his family a little bit bruised but still alive. He didn't expect to find only the ashes of his home and the staggering truth that they were probably already dead.
He stayed there, in the ashes of his home until his first change and it was there that he discovered whatever had happened to him that day had changed him forever. After that moment, he realized he had to leave because every stray skeleton or ash that fell on him immediately sent him to changing to whatever he had become. Louis fled to England on foot, taking nothing but the ashy and shredded clothes he had managed to scavenge up. He lived all over Europe for a while, no one really explaining to him anything about what had happened to him that day. Louis figured whatever had changed him was probably dead now and that he was alone. So, it was quite a shock when he met his first Lycan. It scared him, but they managed to explain the gist of what had happened to the boy who had lived almost a hundred years at sixteen.
Finally understanding, he gathered all the money he had collected on the streets of any country he had passed through and booked a passage to America. Once there, he worked his way east until he finally made it to California.
